Heubnerite

Heubnerite is a dark reddish-brown submetallic to resinous mineral that forms monoclinic long prismatic striated crystals. It may
occur granular massive or bladed and simple contact twinning is common. Heubnerite is a heavy mineral that is somewhat soft
and slightly transparent. The deep red color is best seen at points where the crystals have been broken or chipped and viewed in
a bright light source or natural sunlight. This mineral may be found on matrix with Casserite, Quartz, Fluorite, Tourmaline, or
Topaz to name a few. Heubnerite was named for Adolph Heubner, a metallurgist of Freiburg, Saxony. The best specimens of
this mineral tend to come from Colorado or Peru.
