"The Lucky Strike and Valley View Thunder Eggs Mines have Agates with the best range in colors,
probably in the world. The eggs contain mosses, banded agate, fortification, plumes and geodes."

Leonard Kopcinski (Kop) is the owner. The Lucky Strike Mine is located a mile high in the scenic Ochoco
mountains about thirty-five miles northeast of Prineville, Oregon.

This is one of very few pay-to-dig places left in the State. This is a great place to visit! Spend some time
digging beautiful specimens of Thundereggs! If you are too tired to dig for your own Thundereggs, then
they usually have plenty already dug out at the cabin.

This stunning quality Thunderegg has a large opaque chalcedony natural window with water lines and inclusions. The
vug has a floor of white coated in orange red mineral stain, and the walls are a chalcedony lining. Photos taken
outdoors in natural light. The matrix is typical Lucky Strike Mine mottled green with brick red speckles with light tan to
cream accents. The bottom edge has stick-on felt pads making a nice display seat. Natural fractures courtesy of Mother

This specimen measures 5.4 x 4.6 x 3” (13.8 x 11.8 x 7.7cm) and weighs 48 oz or 3 lbs (1375g)
Multiple Window Polished Thunderegg from the Ochoco Mountains Lucky Strike Mine  
(Lithophysae).

This Thunderegg has multiple opaque chalcedony windows. There is a small vug in the largest window. There
are many inclusions in the chalcedony as seen in top right photo and bottom left photo. Photos taken
outdoors in natural light. This specimen is from our personal collection. The matrix is typical Lucky Strike Mine
mottled green with dark speckles, light tan to cream accents. The bottom matrix split at a natural fracture and
