This is a highly collectible Hackmanite Egg which is a variety of sodalite exhibiting tenebrescence (the ability to change color). When this Hackmanite (which is from Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec) is freshly quarried, it is generally pale to deep violet but the color fades quickly to greyish or greenish white.

Description
This is a highly collectible Hackmanite Egg which is a variety of sodalite exhibiting tenebrescence (the ability to change color). When this Hackmanite (which is from Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec) is freshly quarried, it is generally pale to deep violet but the color fades quickly to greyish or greenish white. When this egg is under Ultra Violet light it Fluoresces orange under LW and red under SW light. This specimen has been in our personal collection since 2001. Photos taken with a Nikon CoolPix L-1 under a Way Too Cool SW-MW-LW 9-Watt Lamp and a C8 LW in a blackout display box.
