Rare Large Apophyllite in Basalt Specimen from Jalgaon, India

This piece is from the 2004 Gem & Mineral Show in Quartzsite Arizona. This piece was procured from a mineral and gem importer from India who had booths in the Tucson and Quartzsite Shows. There are cubic and acicular displays on this rare and unique piece. The largest cube measures to 0.6″ (16mm) and there is an acicular spray 1.5″ (39mm) long. There is a beautiful small acicular spray visible in a basalt vug on the rear of this specimen. The matrix is a porous volcanic Basalt with a top coating as well as individual crystals that formed within the vesicules and vugs. This exceptional large cabinet specimen is from our personal collection.

This specimen weighs 38.5oz, or 2.4 lb (1.09 kg) and measures 7 x 3.9 x 3.1 inches (17.9 x 10 x 7.9 cm)
