Extra-large Fossil Ammonite Pair from Jurrassic Period SOLD

Extra-large Fossil Ammonite Pair that is cut and partially polished. (Calliphylloceras Phylloceratina from the Jurassic period in Tulear, Madagascar)

These have been Expertly Fixed by local Madagascar Professional Lapidaries. One half has all fractures stabilized and is polished outside and cross section polished inside.

The matching half has some major fractures which were partially repaired, waiting for fracture stabilization to occur (Glue to dry) on a piece that separated, before a running fracture could be filled and the piece burnished and polished. We wanted to get this pair as is to show the type of repair work that has to be done on large Ammonite Fossils from this locale. Really nicely done, this is a beautiful pair for learning about ammonites and fossil repair.

This pair has been on display in various locations since 2004 from our private collection. The pair weighs 69.8 oz or 4.37 lb. (1981g). Shipping weight is 7 lbs. with packing and clear plastic stands that are included.

The partially finished half weighs 34 oz or 2.12 lbs. (965g) and measures 8.5 x 6.9 x 0.9 inches (21.3 x 17.5 x 2.3cm)
