Fluorescent NJ 21 Golden Wollastonite on Rich Red Calcite

Description

Excellent Large Cabinet Specimen of Wollastonite (SW/UV golden yellow) on Calcite (SW/UV rich red).  The intense red color of the Calcite indicates that this piece is from a section very close to the ore body. It was collected by a Sterling Hill miner, most likely at the 340 level. Color like this is becoming a very rare and elusive attribute. This piece is from the Sterling Hill Zinc Mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, New Jersey. Photos taken in a blackout box with a Nikon CoolPix L-1 under a “Way Too Cool” 254 nm SW 9-Watt Lamp.

This specimen weighs 28.7 oz or 1.8 lbs (816g) and measures 5.6 x 5 x 1.4 inches (14.3 x 12.8 x 3.7 cm)
