Garnet in Muscovite from the Deer Park Mine in Mitchell County N.C.

Here’s an excellent display specimen of many small chips of Almandine Garnet in a light green to silver green book of Muscovite with minor quartz on the edge. It is from a 1950’s collection from the Deer Park Mine, Penland, Spruce Pine Mining District, Mitchell County, N.C.

This specimen weighs 13g and measures 2.2 x 1.8 x 0.12 inches (57 x 47 x 3.2 mm)
