Extremely Rare Large Dodecohedral Crystals with Striations and Black Sphalerite (var. Marmatite) Influence. Sphalerite is a mineral and ore of zinc. When the iron content is high, sphalerite forms an opaque black variety called marmatite. This rare and one-of-a-kind old stock piece is from the Ticapampa Mining District, Recuay Province, Ancash, Peru. This Pyrite specimen is mounted with mineral tack on an acrylic display stand that is 2 inches square by ½ inch thick with chamfered edges. Extra mineral tack will be included in case you wish to change the display angles. This specimen is from the E&L Roth 35-year-old Collection.
