Chalcopyrite in Dolomite on Calcite from Reynolds County, Missouri
Iridescent Chalcopyrite in Dolomite on a stunning large calcite floater from Reynolds County, Missouri. Brilliant iridescent colors of blue, purple, and green/gold. Natural iridescent specimens can be found in the lead mines in the region; however, these are few and far between. This particular specimen is extremely attractive in color, luster and coverage of the Chalcopyrite. The multiple crystalline calcite even has a clear to smoky coloring. An excellent specimen from the area.
This Dolomite plate with Chalcopyrite measures 3.9 x 3.7 x 0.74" (101 x 96 x 18mm) on an angle calcite crystal trunk floater that measures 4.2 x 2.4 x 2.4" (108 x 62 x 64mm). The Chalcopyrite crystals are up to 1/4" (6mm) across. The specimen weighs 21.6oz or 1.35lb (612g)
The natural bevel angle lets this piece stand free in a very complimentary display position for viewing the Calcite formation and the Chalcopyrite.

Iridescent Chalcopyrite on Dolomite with calcite from the Sweetwater Mine, Reynolds County, Missouri. Brilliant iridescent colors of blue, purple, and green/gold. Natural iridescent specimens can be found in the lead mines in the region; however, these are few and far between. This particular specimen is extremely attractive in color and luster of the Chalcopyrite. The largest calcite crystal measures 0.96" (24.5mm) in length. A very nice specimen from the area.
This specimen measures 3.4 x 2.4 x 2.3" (8.6 x 6.2 x 5.8cm) and weighs 9.3oz or 0.58lb (265g)
