Description
Calcite and Tephroite with exsolution Willemite with additional Franklinite and minor Willemite
This is a specimen of Calcite, Tephroite and Franklinite with minor Willemite. There is also a very interesting exsolution overlay of Willemite on the Tephroite and most special also on the Bright orange Calcite where the exsolution tends to “fill the Valleys” in the Calcite. This piece is from the Sterling Hill Mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, New Jersey. This unique specimen explodes in color under SW Ultra-Violet light. Calcite fluoresces a brilliant red-orange, minor Willemite fluoresces a brilliant green. Tephroite and Franklinite are non-fluorescent and appear black.
