Description
This is very old, rare and unusual find is from a rather remote area in New Mexico. This specimen of Dogtooth Calcite on a Pyrite matrix from our personal collection was found in the Peloncillo (Little Baldy) Mountains, Hidalgo County, in the SW corner of New Mexico in an area known as the “Bootheel”. The southern border of this area is shared between the Mexican States of Chihuahua and Sonora while the eastern border is the Mexican State of Chihuahua. The western border is the State of Arizona.
This piece weighs 5.8 oz or 0.36 lb (165g) and measures 3.1 x 2.2 x 1.3 inches (8 x 5.6 x 3.2 cm)
