This is a rare Emerald Matrix specimen of green Emeralds in a pegmatite matrix of black Biotite Mica, white Feldspar, clear quartz, and Black Tourmaline(Schorl). It is from the Crabtree Emerald Mine in Spruce Pine, Mitchell Co., North Carolina. These specimens are highly sought after by collectors and lapidary artists. This piece is from close to the center of the fracture area and has beryl crystals that are yellow heliodor.
