Rhodonite Large Rough 8 with Two Faces Cut

Description

This Large Cabinet Rhodonite has two parallel sides cut (like a very thick slab). This piece came from the Grassy Valley Rock and Gem show in Spruce Pine, NC in 2014. The seller said the locale was unknown. This specimen has a light pink earthy luster with black manganese oxide and rust brownish (iron) spots in the manganese producing a very unique specimen. The piece is shown both wet and dry so you could see what it might look like polished. This is a nice collector piece that may be displayed, polished or cut into smaller pieces for lapidary work. It is also large enough to be carved or made into a few spheres.

and measures 5 x 3.7 x 1.8 inches (12.8 x 9.4 x 4.6 cm)
