Description
Massive Franklinite with minor Garnet from the Sterling Hill Mine
A very rich example of massive franklinite. This is a small cabinet specimen of black, metallic to sub-metallic franklinite. This piece has a parting texture that is easily mistaken for a cleavage which franklinite lacks. This specimen is a very good example of what looks like granular texture that is actually anhedral crystals of franklinite. Sections and grains of a vitreous orange-brown garnet are mixed in the Franklinite. This is an excellent example of the textural properties of franklinite..
Specimen weighs 19.9 oz or 1.24 lbs (565g) and measures 3.5 x 3.4 x 1.6 inches (9 x 8.8 x 4.2cm)
